BOWLING AND CROQUET CLUB.
On Thursday afternoon last the official opening of the Te Kuiti Bowling and Croquet Club took place. In the absence of the president (Mr Stevens), Major Lusk addressed the gathering and wished the club every success during the coming season. A large number of ladies were present and the bowling green was well patronised. Some exciting games were witnessed and a gold medal, awarded by Mr C. Chilcott to the skip who scored the largest number of points, was won by Mr E. A., Power. A delectable afternoon tea was provided by the lady members of the club and thoroughly appreciated by all. Both the bowling green and croquet lawn were in really good order, and reflected credit upon the grounds committee, and also the caretaker. A large number of new members participated in the play, which augurs well for the success of the club fur the coming season.
A general meeting of the club was held in the Borough Cuuncil Chambers last evening. A fair number of members attended. The general financial position of the club was discussed at length. It was resolved that the rule dealing with subscriptions be amended to read that the subscription to the Croquet Club be one guinea.
