TE KUITI RECREATION GROUND.

The Editor. Sir, —I have noticed several letters in your correspondence column, amongst others those of "New Zealand" and "Pro Bono Publico" dealing with the proposal to sell the only bit of open space provided for the people of this town by the original town planners of Te Kuiti. So far, your correspondents have chosen to write over a pen name, but I think it is time for those, and I am sure they are many, who disapprove of this proposal, to come out into the open and declare with no uncertain sound, that they will oppose in every possible V)ay any attempt to deprive the people (both present and future) of this community, of this most necessary and valuable public reserve. There are very many and strong reasons why this reserve should not be parted with, but most of them have already been referred to by former correspondent, so that I shall not occupy your space by simple reiteration. Indeed, I should not have troubled you with this letter, but for the fear that lack of interest on the part of the public might result in nothing being done to oppose this proposal until it was too late. I recognise as clearly aB any one the need or more reserves, and should

be prepared to assist in procures such in any way short of parting vv.th the little we have, and I am convinced that when the people as a whole once realise that they are in danger of losing this most convenient and necesasry play ground for old and youung, the predict will be "hands off!" —T am, etc., JAMES BODDIE.
