CURLE'S PICTURES
The management advertise an excellent programme for to-night at the Skating Rink. The great attraction is a dramatic masterpiece "Their Lives for Gold," which is positively tLe most exciting produced, and holds one spell-bound from start to finish. This is supported by "The New Woman and the Lions," which will appeal to lovers of wild animal pictures; also "The Little Match Seller," "The Spirit Awakened," and "A Trail of Gold," dramas of remarkable intensity, and bubbling over with situations which are bound to provoke the sympathy of picture lovers. "The Ljs Angeles Fire Brigade" i 3 a picture which all will be pleased to see, for it is highly educating, pourtraying as it does, the manner in which the most progressive apparatus are used in extinguishing of fires in large cities. The programme altogether forms one of the best procurable, and should commend itself to the most fastidious. On Thursday evening the company will show another excellent set of pictures, particulars of which will De found in our amusement column, the two star attractions being "The Brotherhood of Man," a wonderfully interesting drama, and "Chumps," an excellent comedy, full of fun and frolic.
BARTON BROS.' CIRCUS. This popular'show will re-appear here to-night in Lorigan's paddock near the Skating Rink. Since their previous visit here the senior member of the firm, Mr F. Barton, has been overseas securing new artists for the third tour of Islew Zealand. The personnel of the programme is entirely new and includes among a big rollcall of artists, the famous Baker Family of all-rounj arena stars, funny happy Jackles the inimitahle clown from Bostock and Wombells English circus: rank, a novelty rider, who performs daring somersaults on a galloping horse and introduces feats hitherto only attempted by high grade artist on terrafirma. A rare collection of wild animals has also been added to the show, and this will tie on view to all from 7 p.m. Usual prices of admission will apply to the circus programme. The Hamilton Argus, says: Circu3 was far ahead of previous shows presented here. The programme is brimful of novelties. There was not a dull moment throughout."
FIRE BRIGADE BALL. The first ball in connection wjth the Te Kuiti Fire Brigade will be held in the Town Hall to-morrow evening. In asking for the support of the townspeople for the ball we do so with the feeling that the object of the fixture will appeal to all. The funds will be devoted to the general work of the brigade. A successful function will tend to encourage the members of the brigade towards greater results in proficiency. An enthuisastic brigade is one of the greatest assets of the Borough, and only recentlv an example has been given by the brigade in materially saving pounds of private property.
HAYWARD'S PICTURES. On Friday evening next at the Town Hall a complete change of programme will be screened. The dramatic section contain some very artistic productions, the sentiment being sound and the scenic effects admirable, and some beautiful scenic studies will also be screened. "The Mirror of Prophecy" is the star film, and is by the world-famcus Pathe Preres. "The Price of a Silver Fox" is stated to be the Lubin company's latest dramatic success and depicts a thrilling story. "The Mexican Revolutionist" is another powerful drama. There are many other splendid films in this series including "Port of Marseille's "Latest Pathe Gazette,'' "Original Ariales," vaudeville; "Reinforcements," 'Oh, for a Smoke," "Tontolini aa a Gamekeeper," and "Hypnotic Nell." Picture patrons who wish to see a really first-class entertainment should attend the Town Hall on Friday next.
