HOME RULE CAMPAIGN.

HYPOTHETICAL TREASON

IN CARSON'S SPEECHES,

?y Telegra&h.—Press Association— GoiiyrigH* London, Thursday.

Mr W. Redmond, speaking at Dungannon, declared that if the people of Australasia had power to grant Ireland Home Rule she would have it forthwith.

Australia had taken Sir E. H. Carson's measure, and knew his strength on paper and in the field. Mr Reginald McKenna, Home Secretary, speaking at Abergavenny, emphatically denied the rumoured pledge to the King not co proceed with Home Rule till the country had been consulted.

He added that the Government would fulfil the whole task entrusted to them. The chief fomenters of the agitation in Ireland were skilled lawyers, careful to keep within the law merely, and they talked hypothetical treason.

Mr F. G. Kellaway, Liberal M.P. for Bedford, who was elected at the last election with a majority of 19, has accepted a challenge issued by the Conservative candidate to resign the Bedford seat and contest an election on the Home Rule question, provided that either Sir Edward Carson, Mr Bonar Law or Mr F. E. Smith accepts Mr Joseph Davlin's challenge to contest the Belfast West seat.
