THE WAIHI STRIKE.
FEDERATION CLAIMS VICTORY

A mass meeting of strikers yesterday was addressed by Mr Eraser, of the Federation executive, who said the Federation approved of everything the men had done. The mine owners were beaten, but would not give in, and even if the owners admitted defeat the strike would not bo called off until the imprisoned strikers were liberated. Every member of the Federation executive was prepared to go to gaol if necessary. He asked the men not to be roused to violence, but tactics such as calling men "scabs", etc., were to be indulged in as much as they liked. He also asserted tho police were only waiting the chance of a riot to justify their coming to Waihi. An elaborate system of picketting for to-day was arranged.
