THE WAIHI STRIKE.

Semple speaking at Petone last night, declared the London shareholders 3 in the Waihi Company were desirous of introducing Kaffir labour in place of the striking miners, and had approached the Government with the object of getting the poll-tax removed, but, that the Government had declined. Ho furthor said too London shareholders were contemplating paying the poll-tax and sending out Kaffirs. The Hon. W. F. Massey, interviewed last night, said the statement that the Government had been approached was an absolute falsehood.
