FOOTBALL.
Considerable interes-t was taken in the match Married v. Single, which was played at Te Kuiti on Saturday last. Unfortunately the ground was in a rather bad state owing to the heavy rains which fell during the early part of the day. Both teams were handicapped by the greasy state of the ball, but everything considered the veterans held their own remarkably well. After sn exciting game the single players proved victorious by 11 points to 6. Mr N. B. Lusk refereed in his usual efficient manner.
In the evening the winners were entertained by the losers at a dinner in Mr E. J. Thompson's Arcadia dining rooms, and a very pleasant time was spent, the gathering breaking up at 20 o'clock.
