THE DAIRYING INDUSTRY.

TE KUITI FACTORY

SEASON'S OPERATIONS COMMENCED.

The Te Kuiti dairy factory started operations on Monday with a fair supply of cream and indications point to a busy season. The state of the roads renders it impossible for the outback suppliers to get their cream to the factory yet. but it is anticipated that sufficient improvement will take place within the next few weeks to allow of supplies coming in from all districts. The waggon service, which it is proposed, to commence in connection with the factory, will be inaugurated immediately arrangements can ,be made. It will be run at first through the Mangaorino Valley to Hangatiki and back, and as soon as possible the circuit though Oparure, and round the Trooper's road will be taken up. This service should handle a considerable supply and be an immense convenience to the settlers. Reports from all districts indicate that cows are coming in quickly, and the beginning of next month should see the working capacity of the factory well tested. The directors have decided to pay out a shilling per pound for butter fat during the present month.
