The Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., report:— At Westfield yards on Wednesday fat cattle came forward in larger numbers than usual, and prices were very irregular, showing a decline in prices from Is to 2a per 1001b best oxen selling to 30s per 1001b; others 26s to 28s; cows and heifers 24s to 27s per 1001b; steers sold at from £7 10s to £ls 10s. A three year steer bred by Mr G. M. Currie, Kai Ivvi, realised £lB, and was bought by Mr Thos. Baster, Ponsonby. Hereford cows and from tho same breeder sold at from £lO 12s Gd to £ll 10s. Cows and heifers sold at from £5 to £l2 10s. The veal pons were well filled, and sold at late quotations. Heavy vealers sold at from £4 4s to £5 Is, medium weight £3 to £3 16s, others 20s to 33a smaller and fresh dropped 3s to 12s. Sheep were penned in full numbers and sold at last week's quotations. Best wethers sold at from 25s to 29a 3d, others 21s to 21s 9d, inferior fatted wothers 16a 9d to 19s, heavy ewes sold to 21s, others 13s Cd to 18s, hoggets were yarded in average numbers, and sold at late rates 10s 6d to 15s 9d. Pigs were yarded in usual numbers and sold at lato rates. Baconers £3 to £4 lis, large porkers £2 10s to £3, porkers 35a to 40s, slips 25s to 30s, weanors 12s Gd to 18s.
Dalgety and Co. report:—Wo held a very successful sale of sheep at Marton on Thursday when we offered some GOOO hoggets on account of Messrs R. L. Gibson, Alex. Stuart and J. McLean. There were a large number of buyers present from the coast and Main Trunk line and prices realised were as follows Small mixed hoggets lis lid, small ewe hoggets lis Sd, medium ewo hoggets 14s 6d, small wether hoggets lis 3d, wether hoggets 13s 4d to 14s (id, fair ewe hoggets IHs Id to 15s 7d, good ewe hoggets lGs 3d to 10s Gd. A lino of 134 Romney ewe hoggets of Mr Gibson's own breeding realised 10s 3d.
