TE KUITI BOROUGH COUNCIL.

A meeting of the Te Kuiti Borough Council was held last night. There were present His Worship th<* Mayor, Crs Lusk Tammadge, Floyd, Somerville, Young and Forsyth.

Te Kuiti 2 B.—A petition was received from Mr Frasi and other property owners in Te Kuiti 2 B, asking that Te Kuiti toad be formed.— Cr Young pointed out that no provision had been made for constructing the road. He moved that the work be provided for in the new loan. Seconded by Cr Forsyth and carried. Buildings on Esplanade.—H. Jane wrote respecting the shanties on the Esplanade and requesting that the council take steps to have the shanties removed.—The Mayor said he had already given instructions with a view to removing the nuisance. The Mayor's action was endorsed. Ngatai Street. N. C. Matthew wrote requesting that Ngatai street be formed, as it was the only road by which he could get access to his residence.—lt was decided to refer the matter to the engineer. Water Connections. —P. Cotter wrote respecting his water connection. —Request granted. The secetary the of Bowling Club wrote requesting a connection with the water main.—lt was decided that as a main would shortly be laid past the green the connection would be then made.

The secretary of the School Committee wrote asking for a connection with the borough water supply.—The clerk was instructed to reply in the same terms as to the Bowling Club. F. Hudson wrote requesting that the water pipe being laid in Ward street be extended to his property.— The clerk was instructed to reply stating that the extension would be made as soon as possible. J. Wooles wrote stating that one of his section pegs in Edward street was in the Council drain and that the drain would require a little filling in bafore the writer could fence.—Referred to the Works Committee.

Stone Crusher.—Messrs E. Porter and Co. wrote requesting the return of the firm's deposit for the contract, and also enclosing accounts from Messrs Barraud and Abraham for £3 5s for rent of section and Messrs Poole and McDonald, £8 8s for work on crusher site.—Resolved that deposit be returned and accounts paid. Depositing Rubbish.—Mrs J. Ormsby wrote complaining that rubbish was being deposited on her section. —Received.

King Street Bridge.—The Borough foreman reported that the decking on the bridge was considerably worn. He requested authority to have the new decking put in place. Authority granted. Recreation Ground.—On the motion of Crs Forsyth and Somerville the action of the Council's representation the recreation ground committee was endorsed.

Drainage Contract. —Mr H. H. Metcalfe reported on the drainage contract and enclosed a statement showing tha amount due to the contractor to be £123.

Mr Spencer wrote accepting Mr Metcalfe's adjustment with the addition of £9 4s 9d for material.

Mr Metcalfe's report was adopted. On the motion of Crs Forsyth and Floyd it was resolved that ths attention of Mr Metcalfe be called to the state of Alexandra street, which had been cut up by the drainage work. A progress, payment of £2OO to Mr Metcalfe as passed.
