BACK BLOCKS LOCAL BODIES.
CONFERENCE TO BE HELD. ASSOCIATION TO BE FORMED. The movement initiated by the Waitomo County Council with the object of forming a Back Blocks Local Bodies Association is progressing favourably. Replies have now been received from all the local bodies interested, and with the exception of the Waimarino County, all have fallen in with the proposal. It has now been decided to hold a conference at Te Kuiti on September 25th when th« following will be represented:—The Counties of Kaitieke, Ohura, Whangamomona, Clifton, Kawhia and Waitomo, the Boroughs of Taumarunui, and Te Kuiti, and the Town Boards of Manunui and Otorohanga. It is suggested that the representation of the various bodies at the initial conference shall be: Two delegates each from Counties and Boroughs, and one delegate each from Town Boards. It will, of course, be a matter for consideration at the conference as to whether this representation shall be permanently adopted by the association. The work of the inaugural conference will naturally consist mainly of routine work in connection with setting up the association, and no special remits will be prepared for the first conference. It is quite on the cards however, that such an important question as the setting up of a new hospital idstrict may be discussed. Inquiries are now being made by the King Country representatives on the Waikato Hospital Board, and it is hoped that considerable data will have been collected by the time the delegates meet in conference.
