DAIRY FACTORY MEETING

Own Corerspondent,

The general meeting of the Dairy Company took place on Saturday last. There wa apoor attendance of shareholders, but this is not at all a bad sign, showing, as it does the complete satisfaction that exists with the management. The chairman, Mr C. Riddle, reviewed the year's work, expressing appreciation of the amicable way in which the directors had worked together, and paying a h?gh compliment to th° manager and secretary. Mr S. Riddle was re-elected to the directorate, Messrs P. D. Smyth and Geo. Petrie taking the places of Messrs C. W. Davis and J. Smyth, resigned. Both new members suitably acknowledged the confidence shown them, and spoke in enthusiatics terms of the company's outlook. Several non-shareholders attended the meeting. If the men realised their true position they would lose no time before taking up shares. The shareholder has the best of it every time. He gets the same for his butter fat, with the extra privilege of a halfpenny per lb for cartage, if outside the three mile radius. He can reasonably expect a bonus, and in addition to this he is acquiring shares in a profitable concern that will, without doubt, in a very short time be returning good interest. The non-share-holder is helping to pay for the privileges but does not share them. An intelligent man will see at a glance the advisability of taking shares. By doing so he is helping to consolidate an industry that will bring prosperity to the district, and a rapid increase in the value of land at the same time putting money into his own pockets.
