THE MAN OF THE MOMENT.
In all the history of monarchy it would be difficult, I imagine, to find parallel for an opening; so auspicious as that which has characterised th: reign of George V. A few months ago and it is safe to say that scarcely a man in a thousand .knew anything, favourahle or otherwise, about the> present King. To-day, his influence—a strong oneis already felt in not one, but a hundred different directions. One hears there is the keenest satisfaction in the Colonies that one, at least, of the results of His Majesty's influence upon political affairs is that the "Bight" are busily deb at'll2 whether or not the reformed Hous? of Lords shall have Colonial representatives. I hear the odds arc 'o;i.' In army circles it is said that the Alderghot visit of the King and Queen has had already a positively electrifying effect upon the. service : and naval men, high and'low arc, o' course, enraptured to have a sailoi King, who could himself,- if necessary, take one of his crn battleships into action. —' 'Bystander.''
