ARIA.

Own Correspondent

The Aria Co-Op. Dairy Co. will hold its annual meeting on August 17th. The report and Balance sheet show the total supply to be 39,6711bs of butter fat from which 4G,79Slbs of butter were made, gaining an average overrun of 17.96. The price paid out for butter fat was 9d per lb all round, an extra halfpenny being allowed to shareholders outside the three-mile radius for delivering cream, also a half-penny per lb share capital. A manager's house to the value of nearly £3OO is now nearing completion. The services of Mr J. McDonald have again been secured. There is every indication that he will have a very busy time. Dairying has taken on, it is estimated that the supply be doubled. Cows are in good condition, and an early spring is predicted so that there is every prospect of a good season. Very good prices are ruling for butter, and the choice quality turned out by Mr McDonald last season should ensure top price being realised for the A.D.C. brand. Tha district is eminently suitable for dairying. The holdings are small and the country easy, and now that the industry has been firmly estab lished it will undoubcedly increase by leaps and bounds. Machine milking is rapidly becoming popularised. Plants are now being installed by Messrs West and Moore, Petrie, Collins, Nelson, Ward, and S. Riddle. Their example will no doubt quickly be followed by others. The want of good roads 5s a serious hindrance, also the large extent of idle native lands, but such condition will not last much longer; the need for improvement is so imperative that it cannot be ignored.
