the propused CumpliiM Concert have decided to postpone this event indefinitely. Attention is drawn to the addresses to be delivered to-morrow afternoon and evening in the Town Hail by Mr R. H. Bligh, of the White Crosß League. At 3 p.m. ho will address ladies only and at 8.15 p.m. and after Church meeting for men and lads only. It is hoped large gatherings will ba present to appreciate the educational addresses given by Mr Bligh, who comes with a first-class reputation 83 a public speaker. [ A meeting for the purpose of forming a committee in connection with the Society for Women and Children was to have been held at the Te Kuiti Municipal Hall on Friday but it had been stated in error that Dr Truby King was to deliver an address. Unfortunately a number of ladies wore in attendance and were diappointed. Information is now to hand that Dr King will arrive at Te Kuiti on Wednesday, and will deliver an add-ess at the Municipal Hal! at 7.30 p,m. Ladies aro specially invited.
The last test match of the triangular series is to be commenced on Monday between Australia and England. South Africa is out of the runninghaving been defeated on each occasion by England while it succumbed to' Australia on two occasions, the other game being a draw. England and Australia have mot twice and both matches had to be abandoned in consequence of bad weather. In the matdr against Gloucester the Australian in the first innings scoiv.d 250, of which Bardsley contributed 115, tho County team repliyng with 150.' In the second innings tho colonials had scored six runs without loss whetv stumps were drawn.
Settlers throughout the King Country will be glad to learn that at the election for a representative on the Taranaki Land Board, Mr C. J. Ryan, of Taumarunui, was returned by a substantial majority, having received 45 votes more than the number received by the other two candidiates together. Mr Brewer, dentist of Te Kuiti, will be visiting Pio Pio next Thursday, from 10.30 to 2.30. The advertisement drawing attention to this fact . appears in our advertising columns. Attention is drawn to an advertisement of an organ recital, to be held in St. Luke's Church on Friday evening next. The Rev. E. Chitty is coming from Auckland on purpose to give the recital on the new organ, and anthems will be sung by the choir. A practice of those taking part in the Christy Minstrel entertainment will be held in St. Luke's school room on Tuesday next at 8 p.m. A full attendance is requested. There passed away at the Manse, Pio Pio, Mrs J. Mearns, late of Glasgow, mother of Mrs J. Gibson, on August 13th. The deceased lady was a recent arrival to the district, and had been in failing health for some time. She leaves a son and three daughters to mourn their loss.
