THE KOCHANA MASSACRE. GUILTY UNPUNISHED. By Telegraph—Press Association.—Copyrigltt Constantinople, Monday. The Porte, replying to Bulgaria's vigorous remonstrances, promised an inquiry into the Kochana massacres and the punishment of the guilty. Details of the massacre show that the town was full at the time of the massacre, it being market day. | The first explosion in the bazaar killed eleven, and a second five minutes later caused indeocribable panic. Bands of Mussulmans, armed with guns, revolvers, and clubs, butchered Bulgarians wholeasle for three hours under the eyes of the authorities. When the troops appeared, instead of arresting the murderers, they searched for Bulgarians till nightfall. It is estimated that 140 were killed and the number of wounded is unknown. Next morning a hundred bodies were laid out in ,the courtyard of the Bulgarian Church. No arrests were made except of innocent Christians.
