FOOTBALL.
MANIAPOTO RUGBY UNION
The executive of the above union 'met in the Chronicle office on Monday evening last, A. Lawrencp was registered for the Aria club.
It was resolved that the various club secretaries be informed that the referees in the various matches must receive the names of the competing teams in writing before the start of the match. It was resolved that Mr W. J. Combs, manager of the Matapuna Sawmilling Co., be requested to present the shield, given by his company, to the winning team of the union's contests. „ Correspondence received irom the secretary of the South Auckland Rubgy Union was dealt with. It was resolved that the Otorohanga Club be allowed to play the Te Awamntu club on Saturday next, as a curtain raiser to the rep. match. Resolved that Mr Scholes be appointed manager of the rep. team at Te Awamutu on Saturday next. Resolved that the play-off between the Otorohanga and Te Kuiti Clubs, the final match, be played on Saturday, August 17th, and that the gate be given to the union. On a draw being taken the Otorohanga ground was drawn as the one on which the match be played. Mr Frost, of Auckland, was appointed referee for the Te KuitiOtorohanga match.
v. WAIPA. The return match between representatives of the above unions will be played at Ts Awamutu on Saturday. Maniapoto will be represented by:— Full-back. —Kil lop. Three-quarters. —J. Clark, P. Turner, Matthews. Five-eighths —Maher. Half —S. Clark. Forwards. - Healey and Symes (wines), G. Clarke, Holden, Emery, McKay, Hornibrook, Mexted, Kite. Emergencies. —Tal. Clark. B. Clarke {backs), D. Gray, N. Turner (ror--wards).
