OTOROHANGA FARMERS' UNION.
Own Correspondent.
As will be noticed by referring to our advertising columns th 9 Otorohanga branch of the New Zealand Farmer's' Union are holding a general meeting in Turner's Hall on Friday, August 9th. The following gentlemen have kindly consented to be present and will address the meeting on union matters generally:—Major Lusk, provincial president; Alloys Schmitc, Esq., provincial secretary; and James Boddie, Esq. The object of the meeting will be to bring before the notice of members the necessity of more united action on their part in matters affecting their owii welfare and that of their fellow farmers who have not yet become members. In the past this branch has done sterling work in advocating the requirements of the district and townships therein generally, and to their credit be it said that almost all their endeavours in obtaining grants for roads and bridges and public institutions have been crowned with remarkable success. This only goes to prove that the farmers may easily become a power in the land in which they have elected to cast in their destinies, and do untold good for themselves and the community at large—with whom they should be hand in hand they could do this, and more; if they elect to make a united stand; by all becoming members; and then being loyal to themselves and the New Zealand Farmers' Union.
