LEANDER WINS OLYMPIC EIGHTS.

THAMES BEATEN IN THE FOURS London, Monday. The final for the Olympic Eight between the Leander and New College Clubs (both English crews) resulted in a win for Leander. After the decisive manner in which New College had beaten Stockholm, it was anticipated that the spectators would be provided with a fine contest. In this they were not disappointed, I for though the struggle of the previous day (against Sydney) was not repeated, the crack English crew had not an easy victory, winning only by three-quarters of a length. The race was rowed in 6min 15 7-10 sec, which, while four seconds better than the time in which the New College-Stockholm race was rowed, took over five seconds longer than did yesterday's great struggle between the victors and Sydney Ludwigshafen beat Thames in the final of the outrigger fours by two and a-balt lengths, the time being 6min 59 2-58ec.

SWEDEN TOPS THE LIST. By Telegraph—Press Association.— Copyright Stockholm, Monday. The Americans did not compete in the yachting. Sweden secured thirteen points and thus is in an unassailable position as first athletic nation.
