HON. W. FRASER'S VISIT.
PARTY'S ARRIVAL. The Hon. W. Fraser, Minister for Public Works, accompanied by iMr C. K. Wilson, member for the* district, arrived at Te Kuiti from Taumarunui this morning. The Ministerial party was met at the railway station by a large assemblage of representative citizens. His Worship the Mayor, Mr E. H. Hardy, on behalf of the townspeople, welcomed the Minister. Mr J. Wall, president of the Reform League, also extended a hearty welcome to the Minister. Hon. W. Fraser. in reply, said the visit was a result of the continued energy of Mr Wilson, who made very strong representations to the Government. Mr Massey, the Prime Minister, was anxious to come but pressure " ot" business claimed him in Wellington. Mr Fraser said the Government had every sympathy with the settlers and was prepared to give them every possible assistance. Immediately after the reception the Minister, accompanied by the Mayor, Messrs Wall, Lorigan, HKomerville, Matthew and Major Lusk, Stated to drive out the Awakino road. The intention of the party is to proceed about ten miles on the road, and return to Te Kuiti. During the afternoon deputations will be received by the Minister at the Borough Chambers. In the evening a complimentary banquet will be tendered to the Hon. W. Fraser at the Municipal Hall.
