A COMMITTEE APPOINTED.

In connection with the proposed visit to, Te Kuiti of the Hon. W. Fraaer, Minister for Public Wnrks, it was a first stated that the date of the proposed visit would be sume day during the present week. However, on Tuesday a telegram was received by the Mayor definitely fixing the date for Wednesday next. In the. the visit was to eventuate during the present week a meeting was hastily arranged, for Tuesday evening at the Chronicle office with a view to making preparations to re- * ceive the Minister. The Mayor presided, and the following were appointed a committee with power to add to the number: Messrs A. Scholes, County chairman; E. H. Hardy, Mayor; Mostyn Jones, secretary Chamber of Commerce; Major Lusk, president Farmers' Union; Somerville, president A. and P. Association; Boddie. representing Hospital Board; Wall, Martin and Steel (secretary).

It was decided that a banquet should be tendered to the Minister on the evening of July 24th, the price of tickets to be 6s each.

The following sub-committee was appointed to frame a list of matters to place before the Minister:—Messrs Hardy, Scholes, Jones and Steel. Major Lusk and Mr N. C. Matthew were appointed to frame a toast list. It was decided that the public be invited to communicate with the committee concerning matters for deputation. It was decided that the Mayor should call a meeting for Friday evening next at 8 p.m. to be held in the Muni-* cipal Chambers.
