To the Editor. Sir, Now that Mr Massey has taken charge of affairs, I would like through your columns, to draw his attention to one or two matters of interest affecting settlers in the Tangitu block. First of all, the road work was'measured up on June 22nd, and up to the present moment there is no sign of the paymaster. When the pay was brought round last time men who had contracts finished some time ago received no money, so that many have been eight weeks or more without any payments. Administration or lack of it, was a great item in our present member's platform, so that now we are living in hopes that the change of Government means at least more regularity. Secondly, with reference to the payment of rent. It appears that the custom of allowing a 10 per cent, rebate'on rent paid within 31 days has been discontinued. Surely this is a thing that ought to be remedied. In ordinary business, people always look forward for discount for cash. Ought not the same encouragement to be given§ to the man who payß his rent regularly instead of keeping one or two payments in arrears. Thirdly, with regard to our "schools." The member, when in here electioneering, declared that he would not let one of his chlidren attend at such places, as we have to put'up with. Now is his opportunity to see that the Education Board taku immediate steps to alter the disgraceful state of affairs existing here. In wet weather the Mokauiti school is flooded with pools of water, and the children have had to be sent by the teacher to fetch palings to put under their feet. I could state a few more grievances but think these will do to go on with.—l am, etc., MOKAUITI.
