Empire's Sea Defence
London, July 15. The Canadian Premier and his Ministers now in England again conferred with the Imperial DefenceCommittee today. The progress of the negotiations is described as being the most satisfactory. Their Majesties lunched with Mr and Mr Broden and the other Canadian Ministers at Buckingham Palace.
Mr Asquith, his Ministers, and Lord Strathcona, High Commissioner for Canada, were present. Captain Faber, M.P., said that when Mr Asquith and Mr Churchill returned from Malta it was intended to abandon the Mediterranean.
A Bevere struggle in the Defence Committee reversed this intention. He believed that the Canadian offer would be 7,000,000d01. every other year. D. P. de Villiers Graaf, interviewed at Southampton, said that South Africa was anxious and willing to take a full share of the responsibilities of Empire.
