RETURN OF THE AURORA.
MAWSON LOCKED IN THE ICE. [BY TF.LEGBAPH.—rRESS ASSOCIATION.] Dunedin, Wednesday. The Antarctic exploring ship Aurora arrived unexpectedly off the Heads this forenoon, and one member of the expedition, Mr R. Primmer, was taken off by the pilot launch and came up to Dunedin. Mr Primmer was a member of the cinematograph staff. He was entrusted with important dispatches relating to the expedition. All news, however, is being withheld until it is published in the jounals haying the exclusive rightß to it, and Mr Primmer would give no information beyond stating that the AurSra had a very rough trip of 23 days from Macquarrie Islands. All members of the expedition were in good health. The Aurora left for Lyttelton after landing Primmer. Mr Eitel, secretary for the Mawson expedition, arrived here on Tuesday by the Moeraki, and will probably go to Lyttelton to-morrow to meet the Aurora. Cbristchurch, Wednesday. The Aurora arrived at Lyttelton at 12.15 to-day. after a rough passage up the coast. Messrs Waite and Hames, of the Christchurch Museum staff, returned with her. No information concerning the work done in the South has so far been supplied to the press.
