The High Commissioner's cable, dated London, July 6th, is as follows, quotations unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot:— The general strike continues, and meat is still being delivered at the market under police protection. Mutton. —There haß been more inclination to purchase mutton during the past week, especially light weights. Canterbury 4Jd North Island 3|d. Lamb. —The market is firm for anything available, but high prices are restricting business in the market. Canterbury 6Jd, other than Canterbury 6d. Beef.—The market is firm, with moderate supply. There is a Reneral and active demand for New Zealand hindquarters at 4|d, and for forequarters at 3Jd Butter.—The market is quiet, with a tendency in favour of buyers. Holders are firm for best quality New Zealand. Choicest New Zealand 113s, Australian 106s, Danish 119s, Siberian 103s. Cheese. The market is rather quiet. The Home production is large, and it is expected prices will decline. New Zealand white 695, col oured 70s, Canadian white 645, coloured 655.

Hemp.—The market is firmer, and there is better demand. Spot New Zealand good fair grade £22 sb, New Zealand fair grade £2O 15b, fair current Manila £22 10s. Forward shipments are about the same price. The output from Manila for the week was 20,000 bales. Wool.—The market is strong, and all stocks are advancing. Current quotations are:—Bradford tops 36' a low crossbreds 13Jd, 40's low croßßbreds 13£ d, 44' a medium crossbreds 14Jd, 50' a halfbreds 18d. 56' a quarterbreds 20£ d, 60's merino 26d.
