TARANAKI LAND BOARD—A DISCLAIMER.
To the Editpr. Sir, —In your issue of Wednesday, June 26th, you gave a report of the last Taranaki Land Board meeting at Nevii, Plymouth, and in report there appears a number of aipplications for leases from the Mapara Improved Farm settlement. Amongst them my name appears. The report goea on to Bay the leases will be issued as soon as the applicants redeem their bills of sale on stock supplied by the Government. Now sir, I have never had a single hoot from the Government, and, as statements like these are apt to cause a wrong impression. I think I might conclude with a wish that a new broom might be sent to New Plymouth to sweep the cobwebs away from the Land Department-there.—l am, etc., E. J. CHARTERIS, Te Mapara. N. B.—l am not the only one men-' tiuned who has never had a hoof from the Government.
