TE KUITI DEBATING SOCIETY.
The usual meeting of the Te Kuiti Debating Society was held in the County Chambers last night, Major Luslc presiding, when the subject, "Has the trend of civilisation tended towards the happiness of the human race," was debated. Mr Steel took 'the affirmative and Mr Howarth the negative. The matter was keenly debate by a ] number of speakers, including Messrs Martin, , Scholes, Rowe, Young, Moorhouse, Langston, Matthew and Walsh. On the vote i being taken the decision went to the negative side on the casting vote of the chair.
