The police were obliged to intervene several limes, and the Serjeant-at-Arms was active every minute while the vote was bein;: taken ealminj; over-excited delegates. Mr Roosevelt, replying to a request to allow himself to he nominated a a an independent candidate, declared that Mr Taft's sooportera did not represent the Republican party, and that they had shown a cynical defiance of the people's wifhe.-?.
