AMUSEMENTS.

HAYWARD'S PICTURES

A very enjoyable change of pictures were screened last Monday evening and appreciated by a full house. Next Friday evening an "all-star" programme will! be submitted including the realistic Biblical tragedy, "Absolum." This film hag bren received with wonderful interest and approval when shown elsewhere. The educational, comic, scenic and dramatic series will be above the average and a packed house should reward the "enterprise" on their new selection of films. The programme for Friday evening appears elsewhere. FULLERS' PICTURES. The usual weekly appearance of the above pictures will be shown at the Rink to-morrow evening. The proprietor, Mr Curie, has entrusted the editor of the Chronicle with the selection of one seat from the accommodation provided and the person sitting in the selected seat will receive 10s. A specially selected programme has been chosen and an entertaining and instructive evening should be spent. MYSTERY OF A HANSOM CAB. To-night the Taylor-Carrington New Dramatic Company will appear at the Town Hall in the above-named thrilling sensational detective play. It is full of sensational incidents and very amusing comedy dialogue, whilst the interest is absorbingly strong from the first scenes to the last. An exchange mentions that in one of the northern towns an unrehearsed sensation wa3 presented through the horse attached to the hansom cab, in which the murder is committed, getting restive and backing the vehicle and its corpse-like contents down towards the footlights, to the intense dismay of those seated in the front stalls. By promptly lowering the curtain the horse and cab were prevented from paying a visit to the orchestra well, and the murdered man was saved! The scenery used to illustrate the drama has been specially painted and the management claim that "plav, players, and production are perfect."
