DOMINION VAUDEVILLE ENTERTAINERS. In drawing attention to the advertisement appearing in another column announcing the appearance at the Town Hal! to-night of the Dominion Vaudeville Entertainers an enjoyable evim)in;: should bo spent, as the company arrive with good credentials as Vo their abilities, their principals having recently completed engagements with Messrs Fuller and Sons and Harry Rickards circuits. CURLES' PICTURES. } The weekly appearance of thd Curie's Pictures will be shown at the Aleaxndra Rink on Thursday evening at 8 o'clock. A very attractive range of films will be screened, including scenic, dramatic, comic and current events. The pictures shown last week were of a very high standard, and success is assured for Curia's Picture Co. if the standard of their first appearance is maintained. The change programme appears in uur advertising columns this issue. HAYWARDS' PICTURES. The hall was well filled last Monday evening when Ilayward's Pictures were screened and well merited appreciation extended to each picture. The film entitled "His Mother" was a very fine one depicting Irish scenes and the effect of success of a gifted Irish boy in America forgetting his mother, who, failing to hear from him, leaves in search of him, the meeting of mother ana boy being a happy ending to the romance. There will be no pictures shown thib coming Friday, but next Monday a complete cnange will bo effected. A glance at the programme inserted in this issue will appeal to all. . SKATING,. The performances of the "daredevil" skater Zeus at the Rink on Saturday evening last, had very little to recommend it as an entertainment. The idea some "specialists" have that anything in good enough for the ! country in not acceptable to Te Kuit- : i;n•:-, ami xv« would be lacking in JjtiT, | dnt.v to (he public to the proprietors ui halls (who engage on reputation | :>n;i favourable press cirticisms) and j nnf.iir (o genuine entertainers if wo | failed to express disapproval at at- ! tempts to foist the "good enough"' | Hea to extremes. There was very j little grace in the evolutions and I NKi'iy a novice skater would have | hardly expected approval for a eirni• j iar performance. The only acceptj able par I, of the performance was the elaborate costume worn. MKTIIODIST CHURCH SOCIAL. The fir.it of a series of pleasant social evening in connection with the Methodist Church was held recently and pronounced by all "a great success." It was estimated that fiO were present and the three hours spent in fun passed only too quickly. Musical items were rendered in u pleasing manner by Miss Butcher and Mr A lams. Games and various com- | petitions were indulged in, the prizes j being won by Mrs Wooles, Miss Carr | anil Messrs Solomon and S. Nichollß. | The much-talked of table football, j match resulted in a draw, each side | coring one goal. A supper by church members was much appreciate 1, and a pleasant evening brought to a close by the Doxology and Menediction.
