A special invitation is extended to all business men and employees. Messrs Ormbay's livery and bait stables at Otorohanga have been purchased by Messrs Free and Co., of Te Kuiti, who will continue the business as heretofore. Arrangements are bning made to deliver trout by post to avoid the waste of food at present existing. A scheme of delivering fruit by post is in hand, and an announcement will be made in a few days. The Labour resolution in Australia in favour of the six-hour day and the five-day week is described by Mr Fisher bb a modest ideal. Asked if he agreed therewith he replied: "An eminent man once Baid, 'Hitch your waggon to a star.' I believe In trying to seduce drudgery out of iife." Heavy rain caused the wicket to be submerged, and the match between the Australians and Cambridge University was abandoned. The match between Surrey and the South Africans in which Surrey had made 169 runs in their first innings, had to be abandoned for a like cause. . The plain and fancy dress ball Jmich was to celebrate the opening of the Poi Pio Town Hall, and which was postponed in consequence of bad weather, has been fixed for Friday next, Junu 14th. Excellent arrangements have been made for the function, and it is to be hoped the weather will on this occasion, be propitious.
