AMUSEMENTS.
EMPIRE PICTURE COMPANY. Another splendid programme was produced at the Town Hall on Monday evening last by the Empire Company, in the presence of a good audience. All the pictures shown were of a very high class description, and a thoroughly enjoyable evening' was spent by all present. On Friday evening next an entirely new Beries will again be screened particulars of which are advertised in another column of this issue. SKATING. The proprietors of the Alexandra Rink are to be congratulated on their enterprise in securing the noted fancy and trick roller skaters, Madam Read and Percy Athos, for a season at the rink in Rora street. It has seldom been our pleasure to record appreciation of talent worthy of honeßt recommendation, but we do so in the case of Athos and Read. The graceful movements and ability of the artists is a revelation and received the merited applause of the patrons. A fangyidress and poßter carnival will be hela this evening, and recommend the entertainment as worthy of liberal patronage on behalf of the public. We would draw the attention of all readerß to the announcement re Athos and Read appearing on page 4 of this issue.
