PROGRESS OF TE KUITI.
NEW BUILDINGS PROJECTED.
Progress in connection with Te Kuiti has become so recognised that it will come as no surprise to (earn that extensive building operations are projected in the main street, and wooden buildings which have become somewhat out of keeping are to be superseded by handsome brick structures. Mr James, the architect, has prepared plans, and is calling tenders for the erection of a new picture theatre on the site at present occupied by the Chinese laundry. The new building will have a seating capacity of about 500 and independent seats are to be provided for patrons. A sloping Hour will be a feature of the building the object being to overcome the disabilities under which back Beaters labour under ordinary conditions. The building will be up-to-date in all respects and will possess a handsome tiled front. Arrangements are being made to provide frequent entertainments and a matinee will be provided for children on Saturday afternoons. Mr James is also preparing planß for a new billiard room for Mr H. Iletet, which will also be in brick. Accommodation will be provided for five tables, four in the public room and one for private use. The building will have handsome shop fronts and ingress to the billiard room will be provided by a hall from the main street. Each of the buildings will cost in the neighbourhood of £2OOO and the work of erection is to commence as soon as arrangements can be made.
