CONCERT AND DANCE.
In the evening a social was held to celebrate the opening of the hall and a large crowd assembled to honour the occasion. An excellent floor had been prepared, but if the opening night is any criterion, the building will shortly "have to be enlarged. From door to door the hall was packed and the dancers found difficulty in making their way through the throng. Excellent music was supplied for the dancers by Mr J. Nicholson and the Messrs Lindsay, and dancing was kept up till daybreak. During the evening an excellent programme of vocal items was got through, the following being contributors:—Miss Butcher, recitation; Mesdarnes Rawstron, song; Elliott and Smith, duet; Messrs Smith, Pochin, J. Daly, Harwood and Wallace, songs; Elliott, recitation.
