KIRITEHERE-MOEATOA.
Own Correspondent. The residents of the little city of Marokopa take kindly to sport of every description. A little while ago they made an effort to get up an annual race meeting, and did actually run one until stopped, but the effort was barred on some frivolous technical point over a course and another small matter of no particular consequence. It is generally understood that if a proper course is laid down (they used to race down the each till someone shoved the favourite into the river) and a suitable representation made at headquarters—preferably about election time Marokopa residents will have little difficulty in obtaining their desire.
There is an opening for a moving picture show at Marokopa, and its owners would reap a golden harvest. The local hall would be very convenient for the purpose. The Kairimu sawmill is working full time, having large local orders to fulfil.
One can scarcely leave an empty bottle in parts out here without hitting a Scotchman and getting cursed in broad doric for one's pains.
