DEATH OF HON. J. M'GOWAN.

A SUDDEN END.

The sudden death of the Hon. J. McGowan is reported from the Thames. Mr McUowan, who resided at the Royal Hotel, was found dead in a lavatory yesterday morning. Heart failure is supposed to have been the cause of death. The deceased gentleman was 71 years of age. Ha represented the Thames electorate in Parliament for many years, and was for nine years Minister for Mines and Justice. He retired from the Ministry in 1909, when Sir Joseph Ward reconstructed his Cabinet, and was appointed to a seat in the Legislative Council, of which he has been leader since the retirement of Sir John Findlay at the end of last year.
