TE KUITI STREETS.
«. COUNCIL TO TAKE ACTION,
In consequence of the abnormally wet weather experienced of late the streets of Te Kuiti have been in a very bad state. In the business portion of the town the crossings are in an extremely muddy state and a great amount of discomfort is caused to pedestrians. A particularly bad feature of the trouble is the manner in which storm water accumulates on several of the chief, thoroughfares and the unwary townsman who has to be out at night is almost sure to find himself plunging through one of the many pools o£ water which exist. The matter was referred to at the Borough Council meeting on Wednesday night by Cr Lusk, who moved that the crossings be gravelled and that the crossings be gravelled and that the foreman should he instructed to keep the crossing in order. Cr Julian in seconding the motion, said that as a Councillor he felt ashamed of the state the streets were in and sugggested that properly formed crossings should be made with sufficient camber to throw off the water. He had seen Mr Williams, the Government road engineer, who was willing to lend them the road grader. lie suggested that Sheridan street, King street and Rora street should be formed with the grader, outlet being given to the water. He moved that the offer of Mr Williams be accepted with thanks, and the suggested be carried out. Both motions were passed unanimously.
