FATAL FIRE AT BRISBANE.

Received April 30, 9.35 p.m. Brisbane, Tuesday.

A new four-storied building in Edward and Mary streets, occupied by a Queensland agency as a wholesale dry goods storo was destroyed by fire. The damage is estimated at £45,000, and is covered by insurance.

A number of man-o'-warsmen from the gunboat Jady Undah, were standing on the roof of the adjoining building assisting the brigade, when part of the wall fell on them. A man named Walter Oldham was killed and Alexander Smith injured.
