BOROUGH COUNCIL DINNER.

After the deputations had been disposed of the Ministerial party was entertained by the Borough Council at a dinner in the Borough Hall. The Mayor (Mr Boddie) presided and there were a number of representatives of other local bodies present, including Messrs Ormsby, Otorohanga, Wackrow, Ryan and Thorp, Tamuarunui, Loveday, Ohura, and Teasdale, Te Awamutu.

At the conclusion of the dinner the chairman proposed the health of the visitors and made special reference to Sir James Carroll, as the father of Te Kuiti. He expresoed gratification at the visit of the Ministers and exhorted all apart from party politics to work for the good of the district. They were all glad to have the opportunity of entertaining Mr Jennings, who had worked well for the district. The toast was responded to by the Ministers. Sir James Carroll, and Mr Jennings. The health of the architect, Mr Jones, and builder, Mr Williams, wag also drunk, the gentlemen mentioned suitably responding. The health of the Mayor and Councillors was proposed by the Prime Minister, who said the public men of the town deserved well at the hands of the public. The Mayor, in responding, expressed the greatest confidence in the future of the district, and thanked the Ministers for their kindly appreciation.
