The annual parishioners' meeting of the Anglican Church will be held in St. Luke's Hall on Tuesday next 23rd inst., at 8 p.m. At the meeting the balance-sheet for the last year will be read, and Church Warden 3 and officers elected for the year. Tfte attention of householders is earnestly directed towards the advertisement calling the meeting on Mon day evening for the purpose of forming a school committee. As will be seen by the advertisement nine members are required and as matters of the highest importance to the town and district will require to be taken in hand by the school committee during the coming term, it is hoped that a good meeting will ensue. As indicating the amount of work being carried out by the Waitomo County Council it is interesting to note that the accounts passed for payment at the last three meetings of the council average over £3OOO per month, a total of £9278 having been paid in February, March and April.

The services at the Presbyterian Church to-morrow will be of a semimemorial character owing to the grievous catastrophe of the week. At the evening service the beautiful anthem and duet, "My Shepherd h Divine," will be sung and Mrs W. Cowan will render Tennyson's celebrarted "Crossing the Bar" as a solo. The Rev. A. Armstrong occupies the pulpit and will take as his evening subject, "The Ships that were Shattered."

A polo match by the members of the Te Kuiti Polo Club is to be played at Mr Cotter's paddock on Saturdayafternoon next. In addition to the game various contests will be brought off. Afternoon tea will be provided and given fine weather an enjoyable time is anticipated.

The Right Rev. Bishop Croasley is visiting the King Country next week. Arriving at Otorohanga on Wednesday, 24th inst. } at 7.30 that night he will hold confirmation and celebrate the Holy Communion at 8 next morning. From Otorohanga he is going to Taumarunui, and returning to Te Kuiti on Saturday. On Saturday night there will be a social gathering in the Church Hall, tor the purpose of meeting the Bishop, to which all interested in the work of the Anglican Church are invited. The engagements for Sunday are: S a.m., Holy Communion; 11 a.m., Confirmation; 3 p.m., Maori gathering; 7 p.m., Sermon.

The Prime Minister (Hon. T. Mackenzie), will resume occupation of bis former residence in Molesworth street in about a fortnight's time. The Hon. A. M. Myers (Minister for Dfence) hag not taken up his residence at Awarua House, lately occupied by Sir Joseph Ward. The Hon. G. Laurenson (.Minister for Customs) has already taken possession of the residence in Tinakori road, recently occupied by the Hon. J. A. Millar. In the meantime Awarua House is without a Ministerial occupant.

The dull routine of court business is sometimes illumined by flashes of eloquence or repartee from parties to a cause, and Thursday afternoon provided a rather unusual experience at the Te Kuiti Court. The plaintiff in a civil case was being cross-examined by the defending counsel, who was pressing the witness rather hard when the following reply was made in a tone of exasperation: "I don't know how long you have been in the legal profession, but if you continue to ask nonsensical questions, I shall refuse to answer."
