A largely-signed requisition initiated by the local tradeß council and business people, containing over 350 signatures was presented to Mr Jennings ex-M.P. for Taumarunui, asking him to allow his nomination to be go forward for the Mayoralty of New Plymouth. Owing to private reasons Mr Jennings replied regretting he could not accede to the request.
