AMICABLY SETTLED.
A good story is told of two quarrelsome members of the Town Council of a Lancashire borough that has 'or some time gained a reputation 'or its stormy debates. During a recent meeting the two members, who are old antagonists, became involved in an animated discussion about some trumpery matter, and things came to a climax when () n.? of :he disputants gave the other the lie .iirect. The other made a plunge f>r aim, and as the pair got hold of one mother, his antagonist exclaimed : "I reiterate that you are a liar." "Oh, if that's the case," said the other, whose knowledge of the Knglish language is not of the best, "I accept the apology. If a man says ;hat he reiterates, that's all that my gentleman can ask," and he forthwith relased his hold of his opponent.
