RACING CLUB PERMITS.

_ ♦ STATEMENT BY NEW MINISTER.

IllV TKLKURAFII.—I'RKSS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Wednesday.

The Minister for Internal Affairs, Hon. G. W. Russell, referring to the cutting out of country clubs, and to other matters, necessitated last year by tho report of the Racing Commission, says that the Minister will now hnve full power, independent of the report, to consider and deal with all applications for racing permits for tin; 1912 racing year. The 1911 racing year ends on July 31st next, and from August lßt the Responsibility iB laid on the Minister for Internal Affairs of dealing with this somewhat difficult matter. Already applications are being received from a number of country clubs, who were unable to obtain permits under the Racing Commission's report, and as the whole question of granting permits for 1912 will receive early attention, it behoves those country clubs, who may not have sent their applications in to do so without delay, so that they may have their claims fully dealt with when the allocation takes place. It is also desirable for all clubs in receipt of more than one permit per year, not to make any commitments beyond July 31st without making certain that they will receve the necessary permits to use the totaliastor.
