RACING.

Maori King still holds the position of favourite for the Auckland Easter Handicap, The announcement that Fort William is to fulfil his engagement has caused the son of Soult to harden in the double quotations. There was a bit of a scare about Antoinette on Monday last, but last year's winner is getting through her tasks at Ellerslia in good style. The uncertainty that exists as to which of the sisters Kakama or Miss Winsone, will represent Mr McLeod, keeps them from being well supported, but nevertheless layers are not disposed to take any risks about the pair. Kakama is, however, pleasing most on the training track. Miscount has been scratched, and consequent on a good gallop last week, La Reina met with solid support, and is a possibility, but taken altogether the event bears a very open appearance, and next week's work at Ellerslie should be of a decidedly interesting character. It is reported that R. J. Mason has sold his Yaldhurst property to the Stead Bros. It was understood some time ago that Mason was inclined to settle in Australia, and possibly the sale is an indication that Mr G. D. Greenwood may transfer his patronage to Commonwealth courses.
