PRESBYTERIAN LADIES' GUILD.
The ladies of the Presbyterian Church met during the week to consider the financial needs of the church and to organise ways and means of helping the managers to reduce the church building debt. After fully considering the position it was decided to form a Guild with the intention of holding a special effort sometime in September if possible. Mrs F. Vercoe was elected president, Mrs A. Pattison vice president, and Mrs W. Cowan secretary and treasurer. All the ladies present joined, and since the meeting the membership has greatly increased. Sub-secretaries for outlying districts were appointed to do what they can towards the effort, which is hoped to be of an unique kind. The sub-secretaries are as follows ;—Waiteti, Miss L. Gillanders; Puketutu, Mrs McQuarree; liangatiki, Misses Wilson and Scholes; Otorohanga, Misses R. Cook and M. Strahan; Waitomo, Mrs Simpson. Mr A. Pattison has kindly loaned the large room above his shop, where the Guild will meet on Wednesday in each week. The ladies are in earnest, and something very effective will doubtless bs the outcome of the Guild's efforts.
