AHLETICS.

Athletes should note that nominations for events at the forthcoming Mangapehi sports meeting close with the secretary, Mr G. G. Hill, to-day. Interest in the Te Kuiti sports gathering, which eventuates on March 27th, is becoming keener as the day approaches. An additional attraction to the programme will bo the chopping contest arranged between Harris and o'Sullivan. Both are choppers with good performances, and with favourable conditions ruling on the day a first-class contest should be witnessed. The Domain has been secured for the Te Kuiti sports meeting, but a considerable amount of work will be necessary in order to have the track in decent order. Fortunately the ground ia not badly aifeected by rain, or it is probable there would have been no chance of putting it in order in the time at the disposal of the committee.
