DISTRICT REQUIREMENTS.
Mr A. Scholes, chairman of the Waitomo County Council, returned on Wednesday last from Weilintgon, where he had been attending to various county matters. Mr Scholes was successful in hi 3 application to obtain the use of the Government stone crushing plants at Te Kuiti for the County Council. It is intended that one of the plants shall be taken to Aria district as soon as the road is in a fit state to carry it. The jther plant is to be erected at the county quarry on the Te Kumi road close to the butter factory.
While at Wellington Mr Scholes received a request irom Te Kuiti Chamber of Commerce to further the application to the Postal Department for late letter boxes to be established at Te Kuiti railway station. During an interview with the Chief Secretary of the Department, Mr Scholes obtained a promise that Jthe department would again consider the matter. Mr Scholes suggested if it was found impossible to accede to the request that it might be possible to place a late letter box at the Post Office. The Chief Secretary promised to communicate the result of the investigations to Mr Scholes, who will duly forward the reply to the Chamber of Commerce.
