IT'S GREAT TO BE A CITY MAN.

—ln answer to— It's Great to be a Farmer. Oh, it's great to be a city man And live anions the throng, Who think that city life is great But all things else are wrong. It's great to rise at four o'clock And breathe in whifis of smoke, And think of country life, where one Don't ever have to choke, Out where the air is sweet and pure, As it is upon the farm. But a man must be a city bug To understand the charm. Oh, it's great to be a city man And hustle up the street, And spend your hard-earned dollar To buy some grub to eat. It's great to buy a pint of milk And call the whole thing cream, And know that all the bovine kind To the city man's a dream. It's great to be a city man And work around the mill, But I never was a city man And know I never will. Oh, it's great to he a city man ' And hustle up the street, t • And buy the things the farmer Would think unfit to eat. It's great to rush across the street And hope for refuge near, With a snorting automobile A-bringing up the rear. It's great to be a city man And hear nothing but a din, And yet I am inclined to think To do so is a sin. ' Oh, it's great to be a city man Whose front yard is the street, And where there is no garden To grow things fit to eat. It's great to start the children Down town to have their play, To not know what they're doing From morn till close of clay. It's great to be a city man And know nothing tame or mild. But I am not a city man Nor yet a city child. —Maude G. Jack, in National Stockman and Farmer.
