HANGATIKI.

Own Correspondent. Hangatiki during the last few months has made great strides towards becoming one of the towns of the King Country. A well-laid-out piece of land has been cut up into township sections, and nearlv all are sold, some realising very good prices indeed. A town ball with post ollice attached is shortly to bo ereeti-d. and before long building should bo brisk. One of Hangatiki's great requirements is the metalling of the road between the station and the Waitomo Caves. As soon as this is completed a mirtor service will be constantly working between the two places. Application is going to be made through Mr Wilson, M.P., for a new road to Te Kuiti on the western side ot the railway. The Government has granted the money for the erection of a teacher's residence, and tenders are to be called immediately. The station and station yards are very small and inconvenient, considering the amount of traffic that is continually passing through them. Last week some three thousand five hundred sheep were trucked away from here, and large numbers of both sheep and cattle are constantly being trucked to and from this centre. Something should be done to benefit the settler, when he brings in his wool and produce, and has, in the busy season, nowhere to store it, while waiting for trucks to convey it to the market. The tourists and travelling public have to suffer also for the want of space, and a general waiting room is a necessity.
