_-«, LAMBS FOR LONDON MARKET

PENS FROM THE WAIKATO.

The secretary of the Waikato Agricultural and Pastoral Association has received the following letter from Mr H. J. Stringer, secretary uf the Auckland Farmers' Freezing Company : "We have pleasure in handing you herewith the report and result of the judging of the n() lambs sent to London from your November show; also account sales for same. Both the. report and account sales are very gratify ing, the only cause for regret being the small quantity of iambs available for freezing. Referring to the 50 prize lambs, and on which you wished us to report as to suitability for the London market, v;c have pleasure in informing you that they turned out a very choice parcel of iambs indeed, and superior to those sent in previous years. The dressing and general appearance was all that could be desired, and the lambs arrived in splendid condition, protected as they were by the hessian bae,s. We had considerable dilliculty in awarding the first prize, for pens 11'.!!>, 12U2, and 12(18 were so close in every respect that it was difficult to choose between them. After carefully examining them from every point, it was linally decided to award first prize to pen 1200, second to pen 1202,. and third to pen 11LH). On the whole you are to be congratulated on the shipment, and it is evident that each year shows a

marked improvement in your r-toek. If you could only ship linos of lambs like the above lots, you would easily take first place as far as North Island lambs are concerned." The following are the owners uf the pans referred to:--1HM1, A. Loric; 1203, Goodwin Bros.; 1200. A. Lurie; 1201, F. E. Ivo.ss; 120-1, Goodwin Bros!: 1211:1, W. Chittv: 1200, W. Chitty; 1207. U. E. Hollard; 12(US A. J. Melville. The amount realised from the sale o<: the lambs was .£4O 9s, and charges amounted to £2 10s, the net proceed? being £o7 l.'is.
